Coverage ends when the Covered Person attains the age of 75.
Coverage ends when they turn 25, unless the child is classified as an Incapacitated Dependent Child.
Dependent Child Means:
- A child under the age of twenty-five (25) and includes biological children; step-children; adopted children from the date of placement in Insured Person's home or from the time the Insured Person is a party in a suite in which the adoption of the child by the Insured Person is sought (a child is considered to be the Insured Person's child if he or she is a party to a suit in which the Insured Person seeks to adopt the child); and a child for which the Insured Person must provide medical support under an order issued under Chapter 154, Family Code, or enforceable by a court in this state. Coverage will not terminate solely because the child does not reside with the Insured Person or he or she does not claim the child as an exemption for federal income tax purposes under Section 151(c)(1)(B), Internal Revenue Code of 1986;
- A grandchild under the age of twenty-five (25) if the grandchild is claimed as a dependent by the Insured Person for federal income tax purposes at the time application for coverage of the grandchild is made. Coverage for a grandchild may not be terminated solely because the covered child is no longer a dependent of the Insured person's for federal income tax purposes;
- A child classified as an Incapacitated Dependent Child.
This Policy provides limited benefits on a fixed indemnity basis. It does not constitute comprehensive health insurance coverage (often referred to as "major medical coverage") and does not satisfy a person's individual obligation to secure the requirement of minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
